I. OŠ Čakovec: ARTIE celebrated European Robotics Week
From November 19 to 29, 2020, the European Robotics Week was celebrated throughout the European Union. The European Robotics Week is an initiative launched in 2012 based in Brussels for all European robotics stakeholders. The aim of the initiative is to strengthen European competitiveness and ensure industrial leadership of manufacturers, suppliers and end users of systems and services based on robotic technology. Interest in robotics, programming and the general STEM field is developed and nurtured from an early age, so special importance is attached to the greatest possible involvement of educational institutions.
Our School actively participated in the celebration of the European Robotics Week and thus once again highlighted the importance of developing digital and STEM skills. We marked the European week of robotics with a series of workshops on making and programming Lego Spike Prime, Lego WeDo 2.0, Ozobotova, BlueBotova, and Sphero BB-8 robots.
School continuously develops and nurtures the importance of robotics, programming and general STEM fields at the local, national and international level, achieving cooperation with the Croatian Robotics Association, and with schools and educational institutions across the EU through Erasmus+ projects: ARTIE, CodeInnova, Computational thinking and coding - Literacy of the Future, CloCoMedia, iPads School Learning for the Future etc.
The School's students achieve excellent results in various national level competitions, for example first place in the national finals of the World Robotic Olympiad, etc. What is an additional incentive and motivation for the students and their mentors who are preparing intensively for the World Robotic Olympiad and First Lego League competitions these days.
The robotics workshops were organized by Branko Vujnović, technical culture teachers and IT teachers Maja Hižman, Sanja Murk, Ivana Ružić and Ivana Vadlja.
