In the Republic of Croatia, at the end of November last year, a free online course on the basics of artificial intelligence - Elements of AI was launched, which has so far been enrolled by over 20 thousand participants. The education received great support from the academic and business community, and the Ministry of Science and Education, the Government of the Republic of Croatia and Prime Minister Andrej Plenković personally gave their support.
The 'AI School Challenge' competition was launched for students of all primary and secondary schools in the Republic of Croatia, the aim of which is to motivate students to actively participate in the Elements of AI online course and learn the basics of the technology that today enables the operation of an increasing number of various devices and services.
Čakovec First Primary School readily responded to the invitation of Carnet and the Ministry of Science and Education. A dozen employees of our school successfully completed the course and obtained the globally recognized and recognizable Elements of AI certificate, which is recognized and valued by employers in Croatia and other countries.
Students of the 8th and 7th grades under the guidance of teacher Ivana Ružić also participated in the online course and obtained Elements of AI certificates. All proud owners of the certificate will have the opportunity to participate in an exclusive lecture by a well-known Croatian innovator. Based on the number of participants who have successfully completed the course, in September our school will be declared an AI school and will receive an exclusive 'AI school' certificate.
We are proud of the new success of our school.
Our school has recognized the possibilities and potential of artificial intelligence in education and is the main coordinator in the international partnership for the development of innovations and the exchange of examples of good practice in education called Artificial Intelligence in Education - challenges and opportunities of the new era: development of a new curriculum, guide for educators and online course for students.
Also, the students of our school participate in the innovative STEAM project School of the Future, and IT teachers Ivana Vadlja and Ivana Ružić gave lectures at two national expert meetings called Problem solving using artificial intelligence and Machine learning, and a third lecture at the national expert meeting for teachers is coming up and computer science teachers organized by the Education Agency called Info@EDU, which will be held on June 28.
